Food for fathers?

Here's the little treat I made for everyone coming over to my house for father's day dinner.

I had to use cake mix out of the box..but at least I made the frosting from scratch!
The chocolate frosting was just a run-of-the-mill recipe, but I thought I'd share the other.
It's a blackberry buttercream frosting:
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract
5 cups powdered sugar
pinch of salt
1/4 cup blackberry puree (I couldn't find this anywhere, so I ended up just putting jam in the blender to make it thinner. It tasted just as good, and I love the color!)

  1. I never even though of flavouring icing by putting fruit puree of jam in, but will have to give it a go now!
